This privacy policy applies to the OkoCrime mobile application (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices that was created by Aksana Martysiuk (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Freemium service.

1. Information Collection and Use – Overview

The Service Provider is committed to protecting your privacy. The Application relies on Google Firebase and related Google services to provide sign-in, cloud storage for social features, push notifications, optional analytics, and the optional AI chat feature. When you use these features, certain data is processed on Google’s infrastructure as described in Sections 3–5 and in Google’s own policies.

In summary, the Application may involve:

Account and profile data — e.g. authentication identifiers, public display name, friend relationships, friend requests, and data needed for notifications (see Section 4).
Location data — with your explicit permission, for SOS / safety alerts (Section 2).
Push notification tokens — stored so the Application can deliver alerts to your device (Section 4).
Text you send to the AI feature — sent to Google’s generative AI to produce replies; chat history is stored on your device (Section 3).
Analytics (Firebase Analytics) — the Application may use Firebase Analytics to understand app usage and stability; this can include device and usage-related data as described in Google’s documentation (Section 5).
Information you voluntarily send to the Service Provider — e.g. email when you contact support (Section 4).

The Service Provider does not sell your personal information. Use of Google services is for operating the Application, not for selling your data to unrelated advertisers.

2. Location Data (Critical for SOS Functionality)

2.1 What location data is collected

The Application collects your device’s precise GPS location when you grant permission.

2.2 When location is collected

Background	After an SOS alert is triggered, location may continue to be used even if you close or minimize the app – until you manually end the SOS session

2.3 Why location is collected

The purpose is emergency safety: to include your location in alerts to your selected trusted contacts during an SOS event.

2.4 How location is delivered

Location coordinates and related information (such as a maps link) are sent to trusted contacts through push notifications using Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), which is operated by Google. That means location-related content transits Google’s systems as part of message delivery. The Service Provider does not intend to keep a separate long-term log of your coordinates on the Service Provider’s own servers for marketing purposes; however, Google’s infrastructure may process this data according to Google’s Privacy Policy and Firebase terms.

2.5 How you control location

You will be asked for location permission during first use.
You can choose: "While Using the App" or "Always Allow".
If you choose "Always Allow", the app can use location during an SOS alert even when the app is not in the foreground.
You can change this anytime in:
Settings → Privacy → Location Services → OkoCrime

2.6 Disabling location

If you disable location access, SOS location sharing will not function as intended and trusted contacts may not receive your coordinates.

2.7 Battery impact

Continuous background location use during an active SOS alert may increase battery usage.

3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Features (“AI Detective”)

The Application includes a chat feature powered by Google’s generative AI (Gemini) through Firebase AI. When you send a message, your text input is transmitted to Google’s systems so the model can generate a response.

What is stored where:

On your device: Your chat sessions (messages) are saved locally on the device so you can reopen conversations.
At Google: Prompts and related technical data are processed to generate AI output, under Google’s and Firebase’s terms and privacy notices.

This AI feature is for entertainment and informational suggestions (e.g. books, podcasts, or media related to the app’s themes). It is not a substitute for professional, medical, legal, or emergency advice.

Important limitations:

• AI-generated content may not always be accurate, complete, or reliable.

• The Service Provider is not responsible for decisions you make based on AI output.

• Do not rely on AI for critical decisions (medical, legal, financial, or safety emergencies) without appropriate human help or emergency services.

4. Account Data, Friends, and Cloud Storage

Social and safety features use Firebase (including Firestore and Firebase Authentication). When you create an account or sign in, data such as the following may be stored in Firebase / on Google’s servers:

Your user identifier from your sign-in provider (e.g. Sign in with Apple or email-based auth, depending on what the Application supports).
Your public display name (username) and related profile fields used in the app.
Friend relationships, friend requests, and settings related to who may receive notifications.
FCM device tokens so the Application can send push notifications to your device.

Trusted contacts and friend-related information are therefore not limited to the device alone — they are synchronized through cloud storage so the features work across sessions and devices. Data is protected in transit using industry-standard encryption; Google operates the underlying cloud environment under its own security and compliance programs.

Support and voluntary contact: If you email the Service Provider (e.g. for support), the Service Provider may retain that correspondence as needed to assist you.

How this information is used:

To operate accounts, friends, SOS / notification flows, and the AI feature.
To respond to support requests.
Marketing communications only where permitted by law and, where required, with your consent.

Deletion: To request deletion of Firebase-held account data, contact aksana.martysiuk@gmail.com. You may also be able to delete your account from within the Application where that option is provided. Local data on your device is removed when you uninstall the app (see Section 7).

5. Third-Party Services and Processors

5.1 Google / Firebase

The Application uses services from Google LLC (and affiliates), including for example:

Firebase Authentication — sign-in.
Cloud Firestore — user profiles, friends, tokens, and related app data.
Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivery of push notifications (including SOS alerts that may contain location).
Firebase Analytics — usage and diagnostic analytics as configured in the project; see Google’s documentation for categories of data that may be collected.
Firebase AI (Gemini) — AI chat responses.

Google processes data under its own policies. Please review: Google Privacy Policy and Firebase Privacy and Security.

5.2 Apple

Subscriptions and payments are processed by Apple. Apple’s use of your data is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policy.

5.3 Crash reporting

The Application does not use Firebase Crashlytics at this time. If crash reporting is added in the future, this policy will be updated to describe it.

5.4 Legal disclosure

The Service Provider may disclose information if required by law (e.g. subpoena or court order) or when necessary to protect safety, investigate abuse, or respond to a lawful government request.

The Service Provider does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties in the ordinary sense of “selling data lists” to brokers.

6. Subscriptions and Auto-Renewal

The Application offers auto-renewing subscriptions.

Terms:

• Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account upon confirmation of purchase.

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

• Your account will be charged for renewal within the 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

• You can manage or turn off auto-renewal anytime in your Apple ID Account Settings after purchase.

• No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during the active subscription period (per Apple’s rules).

• Any unused portion of a free trial period (if offered) may be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Example: If you purchase a multi-month subscription, you typically cannot cancel mid-period through the app and receive a prorated refund; refunds are subject to Apple’s policies.

7. Opt-Out Rights

You can stop local data collection on the device by uninstalling the Application:

iOS: Tap and hold the app icon → Remove App → Delete App

Uninstalling removes locally stored data (including local AI chat history). Data held in Firebase under your account may remain until you request deletion or use in-app account deletion, if available.

Information already delivered to trusted contacts (e.g. an SOS message with your location) cannot be remotely erased from their devices.

8. Data Retention Policy

Retention depends on the type of data:

Location in SOS flows: Used to build alerts to your contacts; the Service Provider does not intend to retain coordinates as a permanent “location history” product feature. Processing still occurs on Google’s systems when notifications are sent (Section 2.4).
Account and Firestore data: Retained while your account exists and as needed to operate the service, unless you ask for deletion or delete your account.
Analytics data: Governed by Google’s Firebase Analytics retention settings and policies.
Support emails: Retained as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period thereafter.

To request deletion of your data, contact aksana.martysiuk@gmail.com. The Service Provider will respond within 30 days where feasible.

9. Children’s Privacy (Under Age 16)

The Application is not directed at children under 16. The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 16.

If the Service Provider learns that a child under 16 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will take steps to delete it, subject to technical and legal constraints.

App content may be suitable only for older audiences; please follow age ratings shown in the App Store.

10. Security

The Service Provider is committed to safeguarding your information and uses reasonable technical and organizational measures in line with common practices for mobile apps using Firebase.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. The Service Provider cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.

The Service Provider will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
Continued use of the Application after changes may mean you accept the updated policy, where permitted by law.
You are advised to review this page periodically.

12. Your Consent

By using the Application, you acknowledge the processing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy, as updated from time to time.
